Week 5 - Where Your Treasure Is
Link to Sunday Service Recording

Text: Matthew 6:19-21 (ESV)

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Main Message

-
Lay up treasures in heaven
-
The treasure that Jesus refers here is “what is important for us”, it can be money, job, properties, relationship, our appearance, etc.
-
There is nothing wrong in having wealth; what can be wrong is our relationship to our wealth.
-

-
Eye is the lamp of the body
-
Our eyes can be a gateway to our desire, our eyes may see the riches of this world and we begin to desire them more that we desire to follow Jesus.
-
Jesus warned us that we cannot serve God and live chasing our possessions.
-

-
Do not be anxious
-
The reason we allow our riches to control us is because we are anxious that we will loose them.
-
The reason you have your riches is because God entrusted you with those riches. He is the source of those provisions.
-

Reflection Questions:

-
What are you ‘storing up’ in your life that will prepare, preserve, and satisfy for eternity?
-
Do we have to be careful in what we are storing today? Are we storing riches on earth or in heaven?
-
What is it that you are anxious about today? Are you willing to cast them all to Jesus?
