Text: John 1:1 (ESV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Main Message

Those who hear God's voice are those who belong to Him-those who have been saved by His grace through faith in the Lord Jesus.

  • The Voice of God Represents God

  • John 16:13 (ESV) - When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

  • The Voice of God is a Friendly Voice

  • Genesis 3:9 (ESV) - But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”

  • We too have sinned against God, and just like Adam and Eve, we hide from God’s presence and God would always ask us “Where are you?”

  • The Voice of God could Calm the Sea

  • Mark 4:39 (ESV) - And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

  • Allow God to speak and calm the sea that you are traveling.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How Can We Recognize the Voice of God?

  2. Do you think there are things we can do to make it more likely that God will speak to us? What might those things be?

  3. What are the obstacles to believing God can speak to us?
