-
Giving
-
JRW Stott - “Christian giving is to be marked by self-sacrifice and self-forgetfulness, not by self-congratulation.”
-
We should give in such a way that there is no temptation for others to glorify the giver rather than God.
-
-
Praying
-
Ask God’s will as he gives us our daily bread
-
It is God’s will for us to forgive others.
-
It is God’s will for us to be delivered from temptation and evil.
-
-
Fasting
-
Fasting is not a way to get God to do what we want.
-
Fasting changes us, not God.
-
Reflection Questions:
-
What is your motive in performing acts of righteousness? To gain favor from somebody or to please God.
-
What influences us to give? To gain respect? To gain favoritism?
-
How can we bring heaven down to earth?
