Alive in Christ
Week 1 - Alive in Christ
Text: Ephesians 2:5 (ESV)
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
Main Message
-
If God made us alive, then we must be “dead” at one point in time.
-
What Paul was trying to say it that, “we were spiritually dead” because of the sin that we have inherited.
-
Once we are saved by grace through faith, we are no longer dead in our sin.
-
Walk in the newness of life
-
Walking in the newness of life, living new lives, should be our new mode or quality of life.
-
You are a new creation, old things have passed away, was buried, that is why we need to live the new life that we received through Christ.
-
-
No longer be enslaved to sin
-
To live in the newness of life is to not be dominated by sin. To not allow the old self to reign supreme in our life again.
-
To live in the newness of life is to allow the Holy Spirit, the spirit of God who resides in you take over your life.
-
-
Believe that you are alive in Christ
-
We need to believe that we are capable of living a holy life, a life not dominated by sin.
-
Only when we believe that our old sinful self has been buried, then and only then we will realize that we are alive in Christ.
-
Reflection Questions:
-
What needs to change this week—a habit, an attitude, a thought, an action—for you to live like someone who is all the way alive in Christ?
-
As you reflect on the Bible passage, “alive in Christ”, what stands out to you about the character of God?
-
How have you been challenged and encouraged in your relationship with Jesus through what you’ve learned?
